Ivanka Trump, the daughter of President Donald Trump, said on Thursday that she does not agree with one of her father’s most talked about opinions. In her mind, she said, the media is not the enemy of the people.

Trump’s daughter made the comments at an event held by the news outlet Axios.

When asked directly whether she agreed with the president’s notion that the media is the “enemy of the people,” she answered bluntly:

“No, I do not,” and later elaborated: “I’ve certainly received my fair share of reporting on me personally that I know not to be fully accurate, so I have some sensitivity around why people have concerns and gripe, especially when they sort of feel targeted, but, no, I do not feel the media the enemy of the people.”

Ivanka Trump’s opinion of the media is quite a contrast to her fathers.

On numerous occasions the president has called news he didn’t like “fake news,” and in February he infamously said that the media was not just his “enemy,” but rather it was the “enemy of the American people!

His assertion that the media is “fake” and an “enemy” has caught on among his supporters.

Earlier this week, reporters at a rally in Florida posted video of the president’s supporters shouting at the media members covering the event and giving them the middle finger. One person in a video posted by CNN’s Jim Acosta wore a shirt that said “Fuck the Media.”

The attacks against the press have become so ingrained that earlier this year, one poll by Gallup and the Knight Foundation found that 2 in 5 Republicans felt that the definition of “fake news” should be expanded to include accurate stories that cast leaders in a negative light.

In her conversation with Axios, the president’s daughter also called the administration’s separation of undocumented immigrant children from their families a “low point” of her tenure as an assistant to the president, another break with her father.
