Perhaps no condiment is quite as polarizing as mayonnaise. Sure, people have very strong opinions about mustard and ranch dressing, and what is or is not an acceptable vehicle for ketchup (burgers and fries, heck yes; hot dogs and eggs, hell no). But something about mayo just really turns a lot of people off.
I mean, when it comes down to it, mayonnaise is just an emulsion of oil, egg yolk, vinegar, and lemon juice … OK, so maybe it’s not that hard to see why some are grossed out by it. But for everyone else, there’s nothing like a tangy, creamy coat of mayo to enhance a sandwich or salad.
That’s all well and good, but how many people would eat mayonnaise-flavored ice cream? Cue record scratch.
Don’t panic, you won’t see the flavor in your grocery store freezer case anytime soon. But right now mayonnaise ice cream is being produced by a small, independently owned Scottish ice cream shop called Ice Falkirk.
In addition to its Hellman’s-inspired dessert, Ice Falkirk has also been known for creating “wacky” flavors such as Monster Energy and Strongbow hard cider, both which sound infinitely less gross than mayo.
As news of this Frankenstein’s monster of a confection went viral, people sounded off on Twitter to express their disgust.

Obligatory something about “ice cream makers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they never stopped to think if they should.” Still, most of us would take dinosaurs over this.
