A warehouse in Kentucky that housed thousands of barrels of aged bourbon collapsed on Friday, destroying immeasurable amounts of whiskey. The accident immediately put the internet into mourning.
As Sky News reports, it’s unknown why the storage building in Bardstown, Kentucky crumpled. But nearly half of the barrels that were stored there were destroyed when part of the 1792 Distillery building collapsed.
There is concern that the alcohol has seeped into the local groundwater, according to the New York Times, but so far, tests are clean.
Still, internet users were devasted at the loss of so many spirits.

According to media reports, nobody was injured in the collapse. Which is obviously great news. But it’s still a sad day.
Thus, make sure to lift a glass today and toast all of the alcohol that’s rolling down a Kentucky hill, beautiful bourbon that has been lost to us forever.
