The first and latest Gerber babies pose for an adorably precious moment

This might just be the most sacred image on the internet.

Who could be more precious than Lucas, the new Gerber baby spokesmodel announced in February? Why, Lucas sitting on the lap of the first-ever Gerber baby spokesmodel, of course!

On Monday, Twitter user and writer Chris Colin shared a photo of Ann Turner Cook, the woman who, as a 4-month-old baby, posed for a sketch that later became the face of the Gerber Products Company as the “Gerber baby.” Sitting on Cook’s lap was Lucas, the latest Gerber model.

In the photo’s caption, Colin explained that Cook was his grandmother and that while her identity as the original Gerber baby model didn’t bolster his family financially much, the photo of Cook meeting Lucas was tremendously cute nonetheless. Lucas is the first child with Down syndrome to become a Gerber baby since the company first held its annual contest for spokesbabies in 2010.

“My grandmother was the Gerber baby. It was a funny bit of trivia, never made her rich or got us free strained peas or anything. But last week she got to meet the company’s newest spokesbaby, named Lucas. Pretty pretttty cute,” Colin wrote.

While Colin didn’t flash the receipts to show that he isn’t just someone who happened upon this incredibly cute photo, Cook’s identity as the Gerber baby is fairly well-documented.

Even Cook’s great-grandson shares resemblance with the original model.

Following Lucas’ Gerber baby induction, Cook even congratulated the tiny tot on the company’s Instagram page.

Cook had previously met the 2012 Gerber baby Mary Jane Montoya, a child of the Yokuts Mono tribe and of Mexican descent, while on the Today show.

“She is just adorable, and she is a delightful little person,” Cook said about the baby.

Brb, gazing at this precious moment as if nothing else matters, until the end of time.

Collin did not immediately respond to the Daily Dot’s request for comment.
