PayPal will now allow Google Pay users to pay for items and services without logging in and without leaving the Google services, deepening its integration with the corporation, according to a statement released by PayPal.

“PayPal and Google Pay share common goals of creating simple payment solutions across our platforms that enable people to shop more seamlessly,” Bill Ready, COO of PayPal, said. “We look forward to continued collaboration that helps increase conversion for merchants and gives users the flexibility, security, and speed that digital payments can offer.”

While there’s already PayPal support in Google Pay, it leads users away from the website where they are spending money to finish payment. With this new partnership, when a user adds PayPal to their Google Play account, it will automatically enable their linked PayPal account and make it available as a payment option across popular Google services like Gmail, YouTube, Google Pay, and Google Store—including where Google offers peer-to-peer payments—without the user needing to log in again.

The announcement is a symptom of the direction transactions are heading online in general, as making payments online—rather than in person—becomes more and more common. The Verge suggests this partnership could even potentially replace a traditional bank account, which shows just how dramatically different managing money could be in the not-so-distant future.
