A video circulating on social media shows why Tesla’s Model X has the lowest rollover probability of any SUV in history. The electric car maker released footage of its internet tests to Twitter on Monday, and the results are extremely impressive.

Like a rigged amusement park game, the Model X in the clip comes teasingly close to flipping over before it shifts its weight and returns to the ground on four wheels. No matter how hard Tesla tries, the car won’t give in. Even when it rolls more than 90 degrees on its side, it simply topples the other direction and springs back upright.
It’s no wonder the Tesla Model X became the highest safety rated SUV last summer when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) rewarded it a five-star rating in every category. Tesla did not say how fast the car was traveling in the video, but we know it has a 9.3 percent rollover resistance, making it the least susceptible among its class.
The record-breaking rollover performance can be partially attributed to a heavy battery mounted to its chassis and a low center of gravity compared to other SUVs. It’s the reason that, no matter how many times you rewatch the video, the car always ends up unscathed.
