Months ago, we highlighted Romo, one of the first robots to work with a smartphone and interact with mortals. It was cute, and that’s all that mattered for a toy that worked with a smartphone.

Things have changed, and Romo is not the toddler it once was. It’s in version 2.0 with an updated cradle and initial support for iOS devices with Android in the works. This adorable thing can support 2-way telepresence, computer vision, autonomous navigation and facial recognition to interact with you.

Romotive is working on a SDK to allow others to develop for the robot and make it do nifty things for hours of entertainment, and like before, it’s out on Kickstarter raising $100K for production. Pledges end Thursday, Nov. 13, so you have a good three weeks to drop $150 to be the first in line to grab one.
