Here at the Daily Dot, we swap GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you in. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.

Manet. Canaletto. Bosch. Duchamp. Raff.

It’s not too much to imagine that, one distant day, the GIF will be honoured as fine art, alongside Surrealist collages, Barbizon landscapes, and the mosaics of Pompeii. With the announcement of Miami Art Week’s Moving the Still, the first festival for original GIFs, that day is one tesseract leap closer.

There are only a handful of entries up so far, so there is plenty of opportunity for creative, adventurous GIF artists before the Nov. 7 deadline.

This one is our favorite, a standout on any site: Electric ID by artist and illustrator Serena Dominguez. Playing with themes of identity, presentation, and individuality, and with a built-in Harvey reference, it is visually eloquent without being verbose. With a scant 30 notes, it’s relatively undiscovered, and just think what an impression it would make on the next traffic cop to ask for your license.
