This morning, after former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens called for the repeal of the Second Amendment, President Donald Trump delivered a fiery tweet insisting it would never happen.
THE SECOND AMENDMENT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED! As much as Democrats would like to see this happen, and despite the words yesterday of former Supreme Court Justice Stevens, NO WAY. We need more Republicans in 2018 and must ALWAYS hold the Supreme Court!

While that is most likely true—no amount of grassroots protesting will drum up enough support for a constitutional amendment of that magnitude—there was one president in American recent history who proposed a massive confiscation of firearms.
The one who just tweeted the Second Amendment would never be repealed, a fact Twitter was swift to point out.

But that wasn’t the only thing people noted was off with the tweet. Trump has a penchant for saying the quiet part loud, and the Supreme Court is supposed to be apolitical.
