This morning, after former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens called for the repeal of the Second Amendment, President Donald Trump delivered a fiery tweet insisting it would never happen.

While that is most likely true—no amount of grassroots protesting will drum up enough support for a constitutional amendment of that magnitude—there was one president in American recent history who proposed a massive confiscation of firearms.

The one who just tweeted the Second Amendment would never be repealed, a fact Twitter was swift to point out.

But that wasn’t the only thing people noted was off with the tweet. Trump has a penchant for saying the quiet part loud, and the Supreme Court is supposed to be apolitical.
