Befuddled Billionaire: Gina Rinehart’s unflattering meme

That’s actually one of the nicer things said about the Australian billionaire after her remarks about people ” jealous of those with more money.”

Gina Rinehart, an Australian mining tycoon worth approximately $18.9 billion, recently made headlines after several gaffes that made her seem out of touch with the rest of the world.

On Aug. 30, Rinehart wrote in a magazine column that poor people were in poverty because they don’t work hard enough.

“If you’re jealous of those with more money, don’t just sit there and complain. Do something to make more money yourself— spend less time drinking or smoking and socialising, and more time working.”

But wait, there’s more!

Rinehart also suggested that her native Australia should do away with the minimum wage to compete in the global economy.

“The evidence is inarguable that Australia is becoming too expensive and too uncompetitive to do export-oriented business,” the billionaire stated at the Sydney Mining Club.” Africans want to work, and its workers are willing to work for less than $2 per day. Such statistics make me worry for this country’s future.”

Her comments quickly made the round online, with Rinehard the subject of several competing and equally unflattering memes: Scumbag Gina Rinehart (Quickmeme), Dumb Whore Gina Rinehart (MemeGenerator), and Befuddled Billionaire (Reddit).

The latter, uploaded earlier today by redditor SneakyPete27  to the subgroup r/AdviceAnimals. As of this writing, the post has 17,337 upvotes. It also has 780 comments, most of which decry Rinehart and her comments.

Below, we’ve compiled several iterations of the meme. These range from highlighting how she inherited her wealth to attacks on her weight and attractiveness. There are also more than a handful of comparisons to Star Wars’ Jabba the Hutt.
