In YouTube Right Now, the Daily Dot looks at videos that catch our eyes, push our buttons, and move our dials—and that you’ve just got to watch. Right now!
Pop star Carly Rae Jepsen comes from a totally different realm of music than The Insane Clown Posse. She’s Canadian; they’re from the Midwest. Her lyrics are squeaky clean; theirs are full of all the puerile, potty-mouthed references they can think of. And neither act has heard of the other except in passing.
But when music news YouTube channel Fuse gets Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope to sit down to watch “Call Me Maybe” for the first time, their first impression is nothing like you’d expect.
Despite not knowing Jepson’s age, country, or even her last name (they’ve confused her with ’70s rock star Carly Simon), a twist at the video’s conclusion wins the Posse over.
“That was some fresh ass television!” Violent J exclaims.
Our ideal sequel? Fuse getting Carly Rae Jepsen to review the Insane Clown Posse.
