The double-edged sword of image macros—often incorrectly called memes—is that while anyone can make them, anyone can make them.

Redditors got miffed in early 2012 when college students started flooding Facebook with memes describing their experience—many of which completely failed to grasp the individual memes’ traits, which is what makes them funny in the first place.

Conservative Memes are split roughly equally into three camps—established image macros like the Dos Equis Guy and Philosoraptor, new ones like an eagle’s face and various pictures of President Obama, and images straight from the Paul Ryan Gosling blog.
