While recently listening to a remix version of his 2009 song “Strobe,” Deadmau5 declared that the bassline on the track was “technically impossible” to play. A YouTuber named Davie504 set out to prove him wrong.
Here was the result, 150 seconds of footage that even took Deadmau5 by surprise.
The video begins with footage of the Szechuan sauce-loving Deadmau5 listening to the track and saying, “That’s some serious bass … I know it wasn’t played. … I would love to hear someone try to fucking shred that live. That would be insane. Some of the way you program that bass is technically impossible.”
But Davie504 had a different thought and showed his 1.2 million subscribers the result of his experiment. Impossible? Nah, the bassline was playable after all.

Deadmau5 continued by saying he had watched a few other Davie504 videos and that he had “serious talent dude.” He also amended his earlier statement about the impossibility of the bass line.

Less than 24 hours after Davie504’s video was posted, he’d already received 1.2 million pageviews on YouTube. Which means that either people love to hear a tough bassline played well or they hunger for Deadmau5 to be proven completely wrong.
