With over 72 hours of footage uploaded every minute, it’s physically impossible to keep track of the content on YouTube. But in YouTube Guide, the Daily Dot will curate its five favorite finds for each workday.
1) Iman Crosson, “99 Problems”
The biggest news after Mitt Romney’s strange little speech in front of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)? President Obama has a little less to worry about. That makes this Iman Crosson spoof that popped up last week even more topical. In perfect Obama diction, Crosson puts presidential swagger on full display: “I got 99 problems, but Mitt ain’t one.”
2) Taco Bell, “Discovering Bethel, Alaska”
Two weeks ago, one prankster in remote Bethel, Alaska, duped his or her 6,000 neighbors into thinking that the town was getting its first ever fast food restaurant, a shiny new Taco Bell. Everybody was heartbroken when they found out the rumors weren’t true. What did Taco Bell do when the news broke? It sent a helicopter holding 10,000 Doritos Locos tacos to serve the town. Then the chain made a short promo about the community-building experience that is consumption of low-grade ground beef. Check it out. It’s about as touching as a Taco Bell delivery can get.
3) Andrew Rose Gregory, “Ingrid Bergman”
It’s not all viral videos and AutoTune the News in the Gregory family studio. Brother Andrew’s currently venturing down a much more traditional path. The trio’s middle brother recently released an EP of cover songs and has spent the summer releasing studio clips of each track. Today, we’re bestowed with his take on Billy Bragg’s repurposing of Woody Guthrie’s “Ingrid Bergman.”
4) Machine Gun Kelly, “Above the Rim at The Rucker EBC”
Hip-hop and basketball go together like Charlie Sheen and porn stars. So you can imagine how hyped rapper Machine Gun Kelly must have been when he was presented with the chance to rap in front of a crowd at New York’s legendary Rucker Park. Perched atop a rim, the raucous rapper drops two minutes of NSFW lyrics for a crowd that couldn’t wait to start partying.
5) Hyon Song-wol, “Excellent Horse-Like Lady”
Yep, we’re closing this one out by going straight towards North Korea, land of the weird and famished. This recently resurfaced music video finds supreme leader Kim Jong-un’s purported main squeeze singing about some horse babe with as much spright and cheer as everybody else in the great prosperous land exhibits every single God-blessed day of their wonderfully patriotic lives.
