President Donald Trump‘s legal team is reportedly preparing for the possibility that Special Counsel Robert Mueller will request to interview the president as part of his sprawling probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

NBC News reports that the president’s legal team is discussing possibilities for how Trump would be interviewed, including written responses instead of a sit-down interview.

They are also trying to determine if Mueller would interview Trump directly, what topics could possibly come up, and how long an interview would take, according to the news outlet.

The discussions among the president’s legal team began shortly after Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chairman, was indicted on money laundering and other charges in October as part of Mueller’s probe.

Besides discussing the possibility of producing written responses, the team has also considered having Trump sign an affidavit claiming he was innocent of wrongdoing and denying any collusion, according to NBC News.

As Mueller’s probe continues to move forward, some Republican lawmakers have tried to cast doubt on the integrity of his team–particularly since Trump’s former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was charged with one count of lying to the FBI and agreed to cooperate with investigators moving forward.
