The leading ladies from our favorite mystery-solving gang are getting their own Scooby-Doo movie.
The spinoff is set to premiere in 2018 under the title Daphne and Velma, according to Variety. The film will focus on the duo’s friendship before Mystery Inc. formed. There hasn’t been any word on whether Shaggy, Scooby, and Fred will make an appearance in the film.
The storyline itself sounds pretty interesting, but fans are calling for a little something more: a relationship between Daphne and Velma. After the film was announced, fans took to social media to express that they would love to see the characters brought back as a couple.

Blondie Girl Productions (headed by Jennifer and Ashley Tisdale) and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the production company and distributor for the film, have not responded to the fans, but that hasn’t stopped them from imagining their own realities.
One fan even offered proof, albeit shaky, of a deleted scene from a former film that shows Velma might have had a crush on Daphne.
in light of #DaphneAndVelma id like to remind everyone of this glorious deleted scene from Scooby Doo (which could be interpreted as velma having a crush on daphne OR fred, but i think we all choose the former) https://t.co/0duARSl367

i don’t get why in the scooby doo series and movies they always made it seem like velma was jealous of daphne when in reality she was jealous of fred she was gay and miss hayley kiyoko played her at some point

Daphne and Velma will follow the two high schoolers after they become best friends online before linking up with the rest of the gang. Sarah Jeffery (“Shades of Blue”) will star as Daphne, and Sarah Gilman (“Last Man Standing”) will play Velma.
After Daphne transfers to Velma’s high school, they team up to unearth the truth behind the sudden disappearance of their classmates—leaving plenty of opportunities for a romance to brew.
