The Supreme Court banned the use of Twitter in the courtroom Tuesday during its second day of judging the constitutionality of the Obama administration’s health care overhaul.
While cameras have always been banned from the nation’s highest court, the ban of live-tweeting sets a new precedent.
A senior counsel for the conservative legal group Defense Alliance Fund attempted to give live updates of the historic ruling, Reuters reported.
The stunt worked momentarily before the court marshal’s office asked Casey Mattox to stop sending the live updates.
Mattox “complied with the marshal’s directions when asked to stop communicating,” said a spokeswoman for the Defense Alliance Fund, Katie Blechacz.
The public will just have to wait until June for the Supreme Court’s decision to hear the justices’ opinions.
