Some would prefer to compare him to Harvey Weinstein.

Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, has defended her boss through numerous accusations, going so far as to invent a terrorist massacre to support the administration’s point-of-view. Her latest head-scratching defense: President Donald Trump empowers women.

Conway turned to Twitter on Thursday afternoon, praising Trump for nominating Kirstjen Nielsen to run the Department of Homeland Security. She also used the opportunity to praise Trump for “elevating and empowering women to top positions” inside the White House, implying that the Trump administration is fully behind women’s needs.

Suffice to say, Twitter wasn’t having it. Users quickly responded to Conway’s tweet, pointing out that the president admitted to sexual assault in a B-roll Access Hollywood video leak.

Others suggested Trump uses women for political gain, adding the occasional female cabinet member while largely staffing the White House with straight white men. It doesn’t hurt, either, that the administration’s policies largely target federal programs that help women in need.

And others think the tweet is a calculated response, holding President Trump as a pro-woman figure amid the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal plaguing Hollywood.

Conway remains a notoriously controversial figure in Washington. She was accused of leaking White House information at a party, granted an ethics waiver along with several other Trump White House members, and she was called out by the mainstream media for putting her feet on Oval Office furniture, which may be one of her least egregious missteps.
