To get everyone ready for Blade Runner 2049, Warner Bros. has produced three mini-prequels. They bridge the 12-year gap between 2049 and the original movie, beginning with a creepy scene starring Jared Leto.

The second prequel film just arrived, titled 2048: Nowhere To Run. It stars Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Drax) as a secret replicant—a classic Blade Runner theme. It’s an interesting look at what Bautista’s character will be like in the movie. As a professional wrestler-turned-actor, most of his film roles have been action-focused and aggressive, but his 2049 character seems much more vulnerable and low-key.

However, it’s not surprising to see him brutally kick some ass as well.

Blade Runner 2049 comes out on Oct. 6, and we do actually recommend watching these short prequels. Like the tie-in materials for Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus and Alien Covenant, they provide useful background for the film’s seemingly extensive world building.
