YouTuber Ayy Chuck Bowsey is tired of being told to try the cinnamon challenge, a popular dare where a person tries to swallow a tablespoon of cinnamon without coughing it up or sneezing it out.
Instead of bowing to pressure from his 50,000 followers on YouTube and Twitter, Bowsey decided to do something far more difficult: eating one of the hottest chili peppers in the world.
The result was disastrous.
Moments after scarfing down the Bhut Jolokia chili pepper, also known as the ghost pepper, Bowsey begins to cough violently and wave at his mouth to cool it off. He eventually tries drinking water, eating some butter-looking substance, and chewing on ice to ease the pain while he twitches uncontrollably. Then he throws up.
“[T]he pain in my mouth went kinda fast.. it was the burning in my throat n belly that lasted long!” tweeted Bowsey, of England. “ I was fine after a lil nap!”
The momentary discomfort paid off for the rising YouTube star. Bowsey’s chili challenge has collected more than 588,000 views in less than three days, after hitting the front page of Reddit and being linked to by the Daily What. That makes it his his most popular video yet.
“Subscribe to me cause I’m risking my life for laughs,” Bowsey says at the end of the video.
