“Anyone know how to turn off the increasingly annoying LinkedIn emails?” Chris Carroll tweeted earlier this week.

A search for “LinkedIn” and “annoying” on Twitter turns up a constant stream of discontent with the granddaddy of professional networking. Other apps and websites have their own quirks—people complain, for example, about BranchOut invites on Facebook. So the way people connect to find jobs and recruit people seems ripe for reinvention.

One new application from career website Glassdoor seems to have taken the best of the field and wrapped it into one.

Today, Glassdoor unveiled Inside Connections, a Facebook-based application that helps you find jobs. After connecting your Facebook profile to Inside Connections, the application strips job-hunting down the basics by providing users with salary figures, business reviews, mock interview questions, and job postings for more than 150,000 companies around the world.

The application also creates a list of connections you have with other businesses based on where your friends work. Here’s a video showing how to use it:

Like BranchOut, Inside Connections taps into wide world of Facebook using the social network’s data to load up your Glassdoor profile page with a photo, location, and current employer. Messages on Inside Connections are sent through Facebook. (LinkedIn allows only a few free messages a month before charging.)

Glassdoor’s new application has a long way to go before it becomes a household name. But for anyone out there hunting for a job, it’s definitely worth a shot.
