Time is running out for President Donald Trump—at least according to the co-author of his book Trump: The Art of the Deal, who believes that Trump will resign in the near future.
In a series of tweets, journalist Tony Schwartz, Trump’s former ghostwriter, argued that the president is “going to resign and declare victory before [Special Counselor Robert] Mueller and Congress leave him no choice.” He thinks Trump will take a deal to be free from prosecution in exchange for resigning from the White House.
“Trump’s presidency is effectively over. Would be amazed if he survives till end of the year. More likely resigns by fall, if not sooner,” Schwartz said.
The circle is closing at blinding speed. Trump is going to resign and declare victory before Mueller and congress leave him no choice.

Trump must be isolated. Resistance every day. The end is near but must keep pressure high.

resign yes, admit defeat no. wants to stay out of jail, and will make that deal.

Some people believe Schwartz’s prediction on the hopes that the end is near for Trump’s time in office.
Trump is miserable right now. He looks like a fool. Inept, incompetent, loathed, and floundering.

Today is awesome.#ImpeachTrump
Mueller team working quickly; my guess November/December resignation. Then book deal/full court press PR rebranding. Massive coronary.

Others are skeptical. If the presidency is a sign of power and respect for Trump, then he might not leave the White House without being forced out.
It will take a SWAT team & tranquilizer darts to get him out of the White House, and a surgical team to pry the door frame from his hands.

But most of all, Twitter users are split on whether they want a President Mike Pence in the White House.

Pence must also resign.

Schwartz has an unprecedented view of the president, having worked closely with Trump on The Art of the Deal during the mid-1980s. In an article for the Washington Post, Schwartz said that Trump’s “sense of self-worth is forever at risk,” and that he “reacts impulsively and defensively, constructing a self-justifying story” that largely rests on blaming others for wrongdoing.
“I never sensed from Trump any guilt or contrition about anything he’d done, and he certainly never shared any misgivings publicly,” Schwartz wrote for the Post. “From his perspective, he operated in a jungle full of predators who were forever out to get him, and he did what he must to survive.”
For that reason, some Twitter users are hoping Schwartz is correct on a Trump resignation.
Oh dear god, may you please be right. You’ve been right about everything else.
