‘Tis the season for top 10 lists, that special time of year for reliving epic fails, Internet memes, and Twitter trends.

Earlier today two compilations were uploaded that presented somewhat contradicting views of the year in viral videos.

YouTube, which published various top 10 lists according to category, also uploaded a compilation video today, hosted by the infamous Rebecca Black.

Titled “YouTube Rewind 2011,” the video touches on various viral videos throughout the year before going into YouTube’s top 10 most viewed videos. The segment ends with Rebecca Black’s song, “Friday,” which was the most viewed video this year, though YouTubers were quick to point out that was because of the amount of dislikes the video received.

As is the case with any video featuring Rebecca Black, “YouTube Rewind 2011” has thrice as many dislikes as likes.

“I’m kind of wondering why in the world Youtube had her host this? <_<” commented TheSurvival15.

“Rebecca Black brings the Dislikes with her everywhere. It’s like the plague” wrote makourass on the video.

As if to quell those outraged YouTubers, VideoGum released its own compilation, a quickly paced mash-up of viral clips. It’s going over quite nicely with the Internet community, having gathered mostly positive comments. The accompanying post gets bonus points too for listing each video featured, something YouTube did not do.
