Twitter loves jail for Michael Jackson doctor

When word spread that Conrad Murray, the physician convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of pop icon Michael Jackson, it spread even further via Twitter.

Dr. Conrad Murray has been sentenced to four years in jail and Twitter can barely contain its excitement.

Murray, who was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of pop icon Michael Jackson earlier this month, will “serve about two years of his four-year sentence,” reported CBS News.

Four years was the maximum sentence requested by the prosecution. Murray’s defense team “wanted probation for the cardiologist, saying he will lose his ability to practice medicine and likely face a lifetime of ostracism,” reported CBS.

That lifetime of ostracism started early on Twitter where the 58-year-old doctor was a top trending topic this afternoon following Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor’s decision. He has been mentioned more than 40,000 times in the last five hours, according to statistics from Topsy, a social media search engine. Most people praised Pastor for his decision while others, like comedian Andy Borowitz, jabbed at the disgraced doctor:
