Fan have been curious and eager to read anything from J.K. Rowling since she published the final Harry Potter book. While one of her concepts didn’t quite work out, she was able to put it to good use.

In a new interview with CNN that largely covers Rowling’s work with her charity Lumos, Christiane Amanpour asked Rowling about a “political book for children, young people” that Rowling had mentioned working on as far back as 2007. The book was originally conceived as a “political fairy tale” for younger children and was something Rowling planned to take her time writing, although she revealed last year that she had abandoned the book.

Rowling, whose Twitter account has been filled with political commentary for years now, emphasized that the book wasn’t really “political in a sort of party political sense” and voiced uncertainty about whether the book would ever see the light of day. But she was able to “publish” it in a sense in a most unlikely place: on the fabric of a dress that’s now hanging in her wardrobe.

“On my 50th—the theme of my 50th birthday, which I held at Halloween, even though that’s not really my birthday, was come as your own private nightmare,” Rowling said. “And I went as a lost manuscript. And I wrote over a dress most of that book.”

While it’s possible—though currently unlikely—that we could eventually see it, Rowling could always auction it off for charity as she has done with other of her hand-written works.
