While maybe not nearly as momentous as, say, Kanye West and Taylor Swift meeting on stage and revealing to everyone they’ve always been in cahoots, the world was eagerly anticipating the first interaction between quasi-adversaries and possible friends Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany.
Now, thanks to a Kim Kardashian-esque move by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, we have receipts. (And yes, if we follow this extended metaphor through, that would mean Merkel and Putin would be dating—and that’s clearly not the case—but, whatever.)
The duo is reportedly meeting in private later today—where, some may presume, they will share cigars and cackle over how they played the entire planet (like West and Swift??)—but we now have footage of Trump and Putin shaking hands earlier in the day, thanks to the Bundesregierung, the chief executive body of Germany, which Merkel heads.
It comes via (what’s probably) a GoPro strapped to the event’s official photographer as they wander through what seems like the G20 green room. Among candid shots of other leaders, it caught video footage of Trump and Putin greeting each other. Jovially, we might add.

No word if Trump agreed to let Putin publicly say he should have had sex with him after making him famous.
