The worst nightmare for any social media manager came true for Yahoo Finance late Thursday night when its Twitter account accidentally tweeted a racist slur.
The tweet was linking story for President-elect Donald Trump’s desire for a bigger navy. As you can see below, Yahoo’s tweet was supposed to say “bigger.” Instead, the tweeter accidently misspelled the word with an ‘n.’
According to the New York Daily News, the tweet stayed live for at least 20 minutes before it was deleted. Mashable said the tweet was alive for nearly an hour. Yahoo then issued an apology.
We deleted an earlier tweet due to a spelling error. We apologize for the mistake.

But still, the account, which is followed by 718,000 people, got roasted for the error.

And now, of course, would be a good time for Twitter to actually add the possibility of editing tweets.
Yahoo Finance would have appreciated that option Thursday night.
