Like many great ballers before him, Kevin Durant might have just earned his place on the “Notable Rucker Park Players” list.
Last night Durant, a shooting guard on the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, put on a clinic at Harlem’s historic basketball court, dropping 66 points during a summer league game.
An unedited YouTube video of Durant sinking four three-pointers in a row helped make “Rucker Park” and #rucker top Twitter trending topics Tuesday morning.
“Ridiculous,” tweeted Bradon Guarneri, an editor at STACK Media. “Game stops so people can literally touch him.”
“I also love that when other pros are talking about playing Turkey, Durant turns up in Harlem for a pick up game,” tweeted Jay Yarow, a business writer.
“I have no objections of replacing the NBA with the Rucker Park league,” tweeted photographer Josh Keown.
Some of the great basketball players who’ve thrown down at the park include Wilt Chamberlin, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Julius “Dr. J” Erving” and Kobe Bryant.
Even if Durant doesn’t make the cut, he still had a hell of a time at the park.
“No lie, just had one of the best times of my life at Rucker park..wow!” tweeted Durant following the game. “I love NY…Harlem waddup.”
