To close out its late-night E3 press event, Bethesda devoted nearly 10 minutes to footage showing off a follow-up to the modern take on Wolfenstein. Coming after The New Order and the lengthy The Old Blood DLC, The New Colossus is set in the 1970s and focuses on rallying a resistance to fight off a Nazi insurgency in America.
A quirky live-action trailer highlighting a doglike mech kicked off the game’s announcement, leading into a cinematic trailer that catches us up with BJ Blazkowicz.
There’s a lot to unpack in this footage, including a pregnant woman repeatedly stabbing a Nazi solider as well as some kind of radioactive mutant creatures. Wolfenstein has always maintained a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor along with some real storytelling grit, so this will definitely be a game to keep your eyes on this fall.
More gameplay will be released as E3 continues this week. Wolfenstein: The New Colossus is set for an Oct. 27 release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
