London on Saturday suffered a terrorist attack that left seven dead and 48 hospitalized. Terrorists ran over pedestrians on London Bridge, then left their van and attacked civilians in Borough Market with knives.

Authorities killed the three suspects, who have links to Islamic extremism. As the Mirror notes, it’s the third terrorist attack in the United Kingdom in less than three months.

But if there’s a bright spot—one that captures the West’s zest for life, and “I get knocked down but I get up again” spirit of our friends in the U.K.—it’s this area man, pictured fleeing the scene with beer in hand.

The photo has been shared thousands of times, the Mirror writes, perhaps because it’s “indicative of our dark humour and using laughter to get through tough times.”

As Guardian columnist Hugh Muir writes in the wake of the attacks:

We go out and dance and drink and eat. To zealots, these things are decadent and trivial. Yet they are in themselves small acts of political symbolism: we go where we like, do what we like, wear what we want, we love whom we choose, because we have a social framework and a political system that largely allows us to do that.
