After his trial for sexual assault, Bill Cosby says he can’t wait to get back to making people laugh.

In an interview with the National Newspaper Publishers Association, Cosby said he missed doing comedy and has some bits he’s working on: “I think about walking out onstage somewhere in the United States of America and sitting down in a chair and giving the performance that will be the beginning of the next chapter of my career.”

Starting June 5, Cosby sits in another chair and faces accuser Andrea Constand, who claims the comedian drugged and assaulted her in 2004 at his home in Pennsylvania. More then 50 women have offered a similar version of this story over the last 50 years. Constand, former director of operations for women’s basketball at Temple University, is the first accuser to see trial. She filed a civil suit against Cosby in 2005, in which the comedian testified their encounter was consensual. Other Jane Does came forward at the time as well.

Cosby also confirmed he’s legally blind, which would make it difficult to identify Constand, his defense argues.

Other pro-Cosby pieces have already started circulating prior to the trial: His daughter Evin Cosby recently wrote a piece for Black Press USA defending her father. Cosby’s lawyer confirmed they are trying to “change the optics” in the case.

Jury selection for the case is slated for May 22 in Pittsburgh.
