If you’re unfamiliar with the best-selling, multiple awards-winning board game, players use strategy to try and monopolize the board. Using resource combinations of ore, grain, wool, brick and lumber players can purchase developmental cards to build roads, settlements and cities. In order to gain the resources needed to succeed, you must trade cards with opponents, roll a lucky dice, or pull the card you need.
Settlers of Catan is rated for ages 10+ and typically requires three to four players, though the game is popular enough that players have created ways to make it work for two players or larger groups. It usually sells for nearly $50, but you can get it on sale for just $27 today, while supplies last.
