At a press conference on Friday, Chance announced he had raised $2.2 million with the Chicago Bulls matching his $1 million donation and other contributions from comedian Hannibal Buress and music manager Scooter Braun.

He also introduced the New Chance Arts and Literature Fund, so that art programs and materials can be distributed to schools that have suffered decreases in five-year graduation rates, have experienced budget cuts, or don’t have music and art programs. The fund will begin distributing money for the 2017-2018 school year.

“This will affect the schools that are most in need,” Chance said Friday.
