The Department of Labor is getting pilloried online after advertising that there are now more jobs for miners in the U.S. thanks to President Donald Trump’s “commitment to unleashing American energy.”
The Monday post includes a graphic of three dirt-covered miners with the caption, “Explore opportunities in the mining industry.”
Update: The Department of Labor has since deleted its post.

The bleak-looking trio didn’t inspire anyone, as critics relentlessly tore apart the proposal.
“Imagine bragging about creating more jobs that kill people by 50. Real pro-life of y’all,” said one commenter.
“If anyone has ever talked to a coal miner or anyone who does heavy manual labor of any kind, you’ll quickly learn there is a reason they don’t want their kids to do those jobs,” concluded another person.
Others mocked the post with Minecraft-related riffs.
“The Trump Administration is doing unironic ‘people yearn for the mines’ posting,” wrote another, referencing a joke popularized by the recently released A Minecraft Movie.
“‘They yearn for the mines’ was prophecy,” replied a user.
Another X user parodied the post with their own advertisement that joked: “Atlas didn’t shrug. He drilled.”
“Explore opportunities in the construction industry,” parodied another post, alongside a design of a soldier with a whip threatening rebels and peasants doing hard labor.
But to others, the Department of Labor needed no satirical renditions.
“Bro this literally looks like a parody,” stated one viral reply.
“Is this parody?” asked another.
