It started with a tweet from Rihanna, in which she called the news of Trump‘s hasty immigration ban—which sparked worldwide protests this weekend—”devastating.”
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Banks wrote that Rihanna and “all the rest of the celebrities who are using their influence to stir the public, you lot really REALLY need to shut up and sit down.” She added that people need to “[s]top chastising the president.”

Elsewhere, musicians were making real calls to action in regards to the executive order: Grimes tweeted that she would match donations to CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), and Sia said she would match donations to the ACLU.
