This gym found out what happens when you try to shame pizza eaters

At least the gym had a sense of humor about it.

When the Naija Gym Twitter account recently posted a status update in which it tried to shame pizza lovers, comparing them to olive oil guzzlers, the internet collectively went bonkers. Twitter users fought back hard, and they fought back often.

But can you blame them? I mean, just look at this bullshit.

Almost immediately, the internet weighed in with ridicule at the content and with the wonder at how a Twitter account could be so wrong about one of life’s greatest pleasures. Don’t we, after all, work out at the gym solely so we can come home and eat pizza afterward?

Naija Gym even commissioned a poll to see if we really wanted pizza now. The answer was obvious.

Luckily, Naija Gym—which, according to its website, is the “No. 1 Nigerian fitness blog to get real facts about staying healthy and being fit”—has a sense of humor, retweeting Chrissy Teigen and replying to some of the clapbacks with a laughing emoji.

What else could the gym do except fall on its pizza cutter and admit defeat? After all, you can abuse us by charging $66 for collard greens or by adding watermelon to our guacamole, but do not insult us about eating too much pizza.

Because when the world goes to hell and we have nowhere else to turn for comfort, pizza will be our comforting constant. As one wise man once said, pizza is a part of our past, but it also reminds us of all that once was good and could be again.
