You’ll laugh, you’ll cry.

In the new short Follow Me, actor Will Sasso plays Darren Marsh, a stay-at-home dad and aspiring “content creator” who’s desperately grasping for likes and meaning. He embarrasses his kids, lets groceries go bad in a quest to do a hack Sesame Street joke, and steals a joke from his wife.

He’s parodying bad content and the fame chase, but also subtly addressing his own popularity on the late app Vine. Some of Sasso’s best vines included simple physical comedy and lemons, but he later progressed to a character named Torey, an obvious parody of mediocre teen Vine personalities and shit content.

The short features comedy writer Demi Adejuyigbe, who also became popular on Vine, as his writing partner @Dank4uture, who’s influenced by “hardcore pranks, declassified Taliban missile strike videos, skatepark leg break stuff, and Jared Leto‘s Snapchat.”
