An indie musician was briefly suspended from Twitter last night after posting an instructional video on the proper way to punch a Nazi or a member of the Republican party.
It’s worth noting Thor Harris, a drummer best known for his work with Swans, Shearwater, and his own band, Thor & Friends—not to mention his viral DIY guide on “How to live like a king for very little”—doesn’t actually advocate violence in the clip. He opens by saying “Don’t do it” and notes that “peaceful protest is better.”
But he goes on to give some helpful advice, including making sure to capture the incident on film. That’s a reference to the viral video of alt-right figurehead Richard Spencer getting sucker-punched during an interview in D.C. last month. The incident triggered countless essays on the ethics of punching Nazis, received its own soundtrack, and got a delightful video game.
The clip got Harris booted from Twitter, but it was preserved by Xiu Xiu:

Harris has since been reinstated by Twitter, and he’s sharing some of the best reactions to the video.
