We get it, Lamborghini owners of the world: Your souped-up Italian sports car drives really fast. There’s no need to brag about it on YouTube, as karma just might come back and haunt you.
A Lamborghini owner in Japan learned that lesson after posting a video to YouTube showing him speeding at twice the legal limit, when viewers ratted him out and reported the crime to the police. The driver was arrested Monday in Hiroshima, more than four months after posting the video, according to a police spokesman.
The police didn’t identify the speeder, but did say he was a 38-year-old executive at a Hiroshima-based company. He was zooming by cars at 156 kilometers per hour in a expressway tunnel, which has a speed limit of 60 kph. The car can top out at speeds of 340 kph.
If convicted, the driver could face a 100,000 yen ($1,260) fine or as much as six months in jail.
“He enjoyed the roar of the engine and the excessive speed,” a police spokesman told Bloomberg News.
But there are other drivers the Lamborghini owner can commiserate with. A Japanese doctor was busted a few months ago after uploading a video that showed him speeding in a Ferrari. A joyrider in Canada also recently got in trouble for posting a video of himself traveling 200 kph. He was slapped with a reckless driving citation.
