The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) didn’t have to try too hard to get into the Halloween spirit today: All they had to do was unveil this eerie video of a rhinochimaera floating through the sea like an incorporeal spirit.
The video, posted to NOAA’s Ocean Explorer Twitter account, technically comes from 2013, but the creep factor is still current.

The rhinochimaera is a deep-sea fish—some have been found swimming more than 4,000 feet below sea level. Due to their shyness, most of the members of the Rhinochimaeridae family were only discovered in the 20th century. This little guy was spotted off the coast of Nantucket in a location called Hydrographer Canyon, swimming just 10 meters from the bottom.
