Maximus the police dog is an adorable social-media rock star

He’s taking a bite out of crime.

Best known for their ruthless scowls and noses that can find anything from drugs to missing persons, police dogs have a reputation for their no-nonsense, intimidating presence. But one German shepherd named Maximus (aka Max) is showing the Internet that, behind those tough exteriors, K-9 cops are still just pups at heart.

Max’s handler, Vermont State Trooper Nicholas Arlington, has curated a rather strong social-media presence for his two-year-old partner. On Instagram, Max only has about 700 followers, but he’s tallied about 2,500 fans on Facebook who are completely charmed by his off-duty hijinks.

The only perp Max can’t catch is the water from the hose.
