As an adult, getting a 40-degree fever is the worst. Just imagine what it’s like for a baby. It’s sheer torture, and it’s only aggravated by your constant need to take your child’s temperature using a thermometer.

It’s a good thing parents have better options now with an already-existing market for alternative temperature-gauging technology specifically designed for babies.  A new product, called The Fever Scout, comes in the form of a super-cool looking and easy-to-use reusable sticker that’ll eliminate all the hardship that comes with using a conventional and inflexible thermometer.

Here’s how it works: After applying The Fever Scout on your kid’s torso, the sticker uses Bluetooth connectivity and a smartphone app to transmit temperature updates in the form of a graph for better monitoring. The app comes equipped with an alert function that wakes you up no matter what time it is, in case the fever reaches alarming levels.

The great thing about The Fever Scout is that it does not look like a generic medical device at all, which helps rid a little bit of the mounting panic and worry parents most definitely feel when their loved one is struggling. It actually looks pretty cool:

The Fever Scout is made of Silicone and polyurethane, which ensures a soft and flexible feel on the skin. It has a connectivity range of 8 meters, allowing you to monitor a loved one’s temperature from anywhere in your home. Each package comes with a rechargeable lithium battery that can last up to over a week per charge, as well as a charging dock.

And while it definitely benefits infant users the most, The Fever Scout can be used by a person of any age. The Fever Scout is priced at $59 and is now available for pre-order, to be shipped early next year. Accompanying apps for iOS and Android devices are slated for release in the spring.
