What do Kerry Washington, Jane Fonda, Danny Glover, Cynthia Nixon, and Lily Tomlin have in common with a slew of award-winning novelists, academics, artists, and faith leaders?
They all want to make sure Donald Trump never gets elected.
On Wednesday, hundreds of celebrities and respected figures came together to let the world know they “do not and will not stand for the continued threats, rhetoric and fear mongering by the Republican Presidential front-runner.”
Together, they’ve formed the #StopHateDumpTrump coalition. And they’re out for blood. In a statement, Vagina Monologues author Eve Ensler said the coalition was tired of the hostility presented by Trump’s campaign rhetoric.
“We are offering Americans a chance to be heard and engage in action, as Trump’s campaign gain momentum even as he increases his hateful and divisive rhetoric,” said Ensler.
“We also intend to put the media and political institutions on notice,” Ensler said, “That they are accountable for normalizing Trump’s extremism by treating it as entertainment, by giving it inordinate and unequal air time and by refusing to investigate, interrogate or condemn it appropriately.”
Shortly after the campaign launched, some celebrities began tweeting about their support—while others, like director Michael Moore, have been asking Twitter to #DumpTrump for weeks.

The website for #StopHateDumpTrump, which also launched on Wednesday, features an entire page devoted to some of the more offensive, xenophobic, sexist, and anti-Semitic remarks the GOP candidate has made. These comments include: “Laziness is a trait in blacks,” and “it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.”
