You may think you know clean, but you probably don’t know clean like this general manager of a six-store Dairy Queen franchise. A TikTok video showing her going above and beyond in cleaning the fast-food chain’s machine used to make its iconic Blizzard frozen dessert is going viral. Read on and see if your cleaning skills live up to the bar.
According to Miranda (@dqshelbytwpmi) the Blizzard machine at her Dairy Queen was cleaned by company standards, but she chose to go above and beyond. In her video posted on Oct. 1, she displays how willing she is to go the extra mile to make it “squeaky clean.” The cleaning video has since picked up an impressive 1.4 million views and counting.
“No hate to this employee—they did a pretty good job of cleaning it, but, sometimes, you just need a different tool to get the job done,” Miranda tells her viewers before revealing her secret “weapon,” a hand-held Bissell steam cleaner.
“I purchased the Bissell steam cleaner for my house a couple of weeks ago and was so impressed with it that I wanted to bring it to work,” she explains.
The steamer makes short work of the gunk that has accumulated on the control knob of the machines and even blasts away the grime in the hard-to-reach corners of the machine’s curved walls.
“I 10 out of 10 recommend,” she says about the cleaning tool.

While Miranda’s attention to detail is definitely a step above most employees, some of her viewers were skeptical about having to use special equipment to clean at their own jobs and going above and beyond for a low-paying job.
“The tool needs to be provided by the company. I would not be bringing anything from home to perform job tasks,” Jose Zuno (@j.zun_oh) wrote.
“Unless the company is willing to pay for that tool it’s gonna be a no,” another viewer commented.
One viewer added, “Wonderful now make that tool available for the employee to do it the way you want.”
“Ion get paid enough for that,” @davidfergusonn_ said.
According to Indeed, Dairy Queen crew members reported getting paid an average of $11.94 per hour, and general managers reported making $16.52 per hour.
Some viewers had suggestions of their own for cleaning the machine.
James (@jamesg_1239) wrote, “Just put a small piece of plastic wrap. Over the knob and when it gets dirty pull it off.”
Another noted “You can take the knob off, you just need an Allen key. Water can mess up the dial inside the unit.”
Miranda responded, “Thank you for the tip!”
