At this point in his career, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is starting to seem like the complete opposite of Tom Brady in two important ways: his NFL future and what he thinks of Donald Trump.
Kaepernick—who, until this year, was seen as the league’s next quarterbacking superstar—has had a disastrous season, losing his job as starting QB and possibly his roster spot. Unlike Brady—a candidate for MVP who also has a cozy relationship with Trump—Kaepernick doesn’t appreciate the Republican presidential frontrunner.
Kaepernick recently took to Instagram, which enjoys a following of more than 1.4 million accounts, to express his displeasure about Trump’s recent ideas to ban Muslims from entering the U.S., how his supporters treat black protesters, and the candidate’s thoughts about Mexican immigrants.
Kaepernick is injured and out for the rest of the season, and his stock as a quarterback is as low as it’s ever been in his career. But there’s little question that Kaepernick is the all-time NFL leader in using Trump as his own personal piñata.
A spokesperson for Trump’s campaign did not immediately respond to our email requesting comment on Kaepernick’s posts.
