Virtual reality has been on the gaming scene for years, but affordability was a key detractor considering the price point of both the Vive and the Oculus Rift.
Today, Sony is taking a step in the right direction with release of the PlayStation VR, the first headset to fall squarely in the middle range when it comes to price.
With a 5.7-inch OLED 1080p display running at up to 120 frames per second and 3D sound, PSVR offers a totally new level of immersion for gamers. It also simplifies the VR experience by being a plug and play device, so you’ll be up and running minutes after you get it out of the box.
There are quite a few games already on sale for it too, including Batman:Arkham VR, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, and DriveClub. We hear that Final Fantasy XV will be fully playable in VR too.
The headset itself retails for $399.99 and the launch bundle is $499.99. The latter comes with the PlayStation Camera, 2 PlayStation Move motion controllers, and the VR Worlds Game, so if you don’t have that equipment it’s a sweet deal.
Rather than waiting in line at major retailers, you can get it on Amazon, where it’s currently back in stock. It was previously sold out, so act fast if you don’t want to miss out. Buy it here.
