Forget Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, the real leader in the 2016 election season is weed.
Of the five state putting marijuana legalization for recreational purposes on the November ballot, polls show public support in favor of all of them, reports the Washington Post.
The states considering legalizing pot are: Arizona, California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada. Recent polling—which, the Post notes, may be less accurate than polls on other issues, like the presidency—puts marijuana legalization at or above 50 percent in these states.
States considering changing their medical marijuana laws include Arkansas, Florida, Montana, and North Dakota.
Of course, we’ve seen these initiatives fail in the past, and anything could happen between now and Election Day. And it may all come down to how motivated voters are to make it out to the polls.
