It’s been a while since the Republican candidate for president has paid up to the IRS.
How long, exactly? Donald Trump’s tax records from 1995 indicated he would be able to legally avoid paying taxes for 18 years, according to the New York Times. Trump’s $916 million loss during the height of the Clinton administration would have allowed him to take advantage of tax rules that cancel out equivalent taxable income in the years to follow.
Naturally, this bombshell of a revelation led to a hashtag. Twitter had fun at Trump’s expense with #LastTimeTrumpPaidTaxes:

Trump admitted to not paying taxes during the first presidential debate, claiming that it makes him smart. The Times has now backed up that fact, though his intelligence has yet to be seen—as has his net worth. That may explain his evasiveness regarding his taxes.
The real estate tycoon’s refusal to release his most recent tax returns is a departure from nearly 40-years of tradition for presidential candidates. #LastTimeTrumpReleasedReturn? How about never.
