He’s topped himself yet again.

Going undercover at San Diego Comic-Con is a yearly tradition for Mythbusters’s Adam Savage, but this year Savage recruited a real astronaut in order to play a fake one.

Savage has been working on his spacesuit from 2001: A Space Odyssey for about five years, and luckily he had an extra suit when veteran astronaut Cmdr. Chris Hadfield, who had never been to SDCC before, called him up. Given the complexity of the costume and Savage’s meticulous attention to detail (all the way down to the lunch boxes), the TV host felt that wearing the suit by himself would give him away, but nobody would suspect him if he walked around with someone else.

Savage has learned from last year. His upgrades to the suit include a cooling system, which is a reciprocating pump of ice water, and a mirror in the visor so nobody could recognize him. As Savage explains the costume’s features, Hadfield describes how the real thing—which he’s worn many times—compares to the fan recreation. There are more similarities than you might think.

Hadfield has walked in space, but nothing could prepare him for walking the SDCC floor.
