It turns out support for the Iraq War isn’t the only thing Donald Trump aired on Howard Stern’s radio show.
Trump appears to have revealed his fondness for teenage girls to Stern in 1999. Audio released by New York Daily News on Friday has the Republican presidential candidate saying he once promised his daughter Ivanka he wouldn’t date anyone younger than her. She was 17 at the time.
Trump, who was about to turn 53, was joking with Stern about finding a new wife—he divorced Marla Ann Maples, his second wife, that year—and said he was planning to attend a fashion show where he could meet some models. That’s when he revealed his promise to limit relationships to women at least Ivanka’s age.
“I have a deal with her,” he said. “She’s 17 and doing great—Ivanka. She made me promise, swear to her that I would never date a girl younger than her. So as she grows older, the field is getting very limited.”
“The nerve of her,” Stern responded. “Now you can’t go out with 16-year-olds.”
As the Daily News pointed out, the age of consent in New York, Trump’s home, is 17.
This isn’t the first time a tape from Stern’s show has landed Trump in hot water. In 2002, months prior to the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Trump expressed his support for the war—a fact that he has repeatedly lied about on the campaign trail and during debates, including Monday night’s dust-up with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
In 2005, Trump married his third and current wife, Melania Knauss, a former model who was 29 at the time.
